                 m (1) a cousin - Catherine "Katie" Boatright.
                 m (2) Alsey Elizabeth Stark 12-15-1889, a dau of
                   James Stark & Sallie Hughes.
                 d 1-30-1898 four miles from Delay, Laf. Co MS.

Lewis says he m Catherine in Campbell Co GA (Note by JB - Lic was issued in Coweta Co GA and 
executed on 11-6-1839).  Catherine d 8-27-1888.  T.G. Bratton and R. V. Edwards testified that 
they helped bury her.

Elizabeth b May 27th. d 5-9-1940, Denmark, Laf. Co, MS, buried Midway Cemetery by
O.H. Douglas.

Lewis had 12 children by wife Catherine.  They were not named.

Lucy, wife of Rufus Weaver of Carrollton, Carroll Co GA (dead before date of Affidavit 
12-31-1894).

Polly, wife of Isaac McKinney.  Note:  Mary m John P. McKenzie 7-24-1856 Carroll Co GA (JB).

Rachel, wife of Willis Smith.


Note:  Sister Rachel Smith says there was a half-brother James R. in her affidavit made 
1-30-1895.
       Sister Mary McKenzie says she had two brothers - the oldest Lewis and the youngest, 
JamesRiley Boatright, who died near Carrollton, GA year before last.  Affidavit made 1-30-1895.

          John Boatright - cousin, too young to serve in Indian Wars,

          of mine in GA and members of the Regt I served with - but
          other companies.

MILITARY RECORD:  Enl 6-7-1836.  Recd honorable discharge at West Point GA on 8-25-1836.  
Enl at Newman, Coweta Co GA.  Svd in CPT Wm U. Anderson's Co, COL Wm Wood's Regt, Gen'l James 
Wood's Bde of Coweta Co GA Volunteers.  "Had a little brush with the Indians at Oca Fanoca FL."  
After Wm Anderson was court-martialed and reduced to ranks, svd under then 1st LT Geo Edw E.M. 
Storey, who became Captain.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION AT TIME OF ENLISTMENT:  5' 10", light hair, blue eyes, complexion fair, 
but tanned and sunburned.  Weight about 160 lbs.

DESCRIPTION ON 10-29-1894:  Same but hair gray.

CHARACTER:  "A good, consciencious old man - and though poor is well respected for honesty 
and probity."  Statement by Wm Ragsdale, Special Exr. 10-29-1894 at Water Valley MS.

AFFIDAVIT 6-3-1894 BY LEWIS BOATRIGHT NAMES COMRADES IN INDIAN WAR:

          Chas Willingham, Abram Huister, Wiley Parks, James Hunley,
          Hinson McLarty, Billie Smith, Henry Cates, John Adams, 
          Billie Blanks, R.S. Scrogins, Sebron J. Harbus, Enoch Stiddham
          and George Wiley.

LAND WARRANTS:

Sold 1st land warrant for 40 acres to W. Duncan.  Heard land was located in Benton County AL.

Sold 2nd land warrant to John Revis.  This 120 acres he heard was in Winston Co AL.  The 
Bounty Land Warrant #76172 for 120 acres was issued in October 1855.

INFORMATION FROM DEPOSITIONS OF:

          Lewis B. Boatwright.
          John J. Patmon - a cousin of Rufus Weaver and a soldier in
                           Indian War.
          Benjamin Lee/Leigh - a soldier in Indian War.
          Mary McKenzie - sister.
          Rachel Smith  - sister.
          Alsey Elizabeth Boatright - widow of Lewis.
          Thomas J. Jones - son-in-law.
          Others who did not add to data about Lewis or family.

          All three children said their father Thomas Boatwright
          died in SC., and that they moved to GA when they were
          too small to remember.

          Deposition of Rachel Smith made 1-30-1895.  Age 75.
          Occupation:  Knitting - when I do anything.  Res - near
          Nora, Cherokee Co AL (five miles from Cedar Bluff) -
          there on a visit to children.  Stated she was youngest
          child.  Children in order of birth:  Lewis, Lucy, Mary,
          JamesRiley and herself.
